Hello everyone.
Sometimes the way abilities will interact with other abilities, or other elements of the game, is not immediately evident when looking at the descriptions of the abilities. This guide aims to take away some of that possible confusion, by listing some of these abilities and interactions. Interactions between two abilities will be listed under both abilities. Corrections and additions are always welcome.
After Death
After Death abilities are still triggered on cards that are resilient to the main attack from the card with After Death. For example, Alchemia’s After Death is still triggered on Volgar.
Alteration – Hard Escape ard Escape is only applied on enemy cards that start their turn in range of the card with Hard Escape, not on cards moving through the aura during their action. The movement value shown in the stat line on cards affected by Hard Escape is not changed (for example, a card with two movement will still be shown as having two movement in his stat line), but the amount of fields the card can move is still reduced to one.
AoE Attacks AoE abilities are not triggered when attacking a resilient or protected card. If another card than the resilient card is attacked, AoE damage is still applied on the resilient card. If a card with AoE attacks slays a card with Armor Drop and the AoE damage also hits a different card which is at one or zero defence, the AoE damage is applied before the Bequest and the card dies.
Assassination Assassination is not triggered when attacking a card that is resilient to or protected from the attack.
Bequest – Armor Drop If a card with AoE attacks slays a card with Armor Drop and the AoE damage also hits a different card which is at one or zero defence, the AoE damage is applied before the Bequest and the card dies.
Counter Strike When an attack on a card with Counter Strike reduces both players morale to zero, the player with more time left wins.
Deterioration – Anti Light Infantry Cards with a base value of two movement that gain movement from an equipment, are not affected by the Anti Light Infantry debuff. Cards with a base value of three movement that lose movement from an equipment, are still affected.
Enhancement – Heavy Infantry Cards with a base value of one movement that gain movement from an equipment, are still affected by the Heavy Infantry buff. Cards with a base value of two movement that lose movement from an equipment, are not affected.
Impairment Impairment abilities are not triggered when attacking a card that is resilient to or protected from the attack.
Multi Strike – Troop Slayer Troops are stacks of warriors. This means Troop Slayer is only triggered on stacks of warriors, not on unstacked warriors with troop strength.
Protection
If a card is protected from an attack, abilities that are part of the attack on that card are cancelled. This means for example Impairment, Assassination and AoE abilities are not triggered. However, abilities that are not part of an attack on the protected card, are still applied on the protected card. This is true even if they are abilities triggered by a range attack.
Resilience If a card is resilient to an attack, abilities that are part of the attack on that card are cancelled. This means for example Impairment, Assassination and AoE abilities are not triggered. However, abilities that are not part of an attack on the resilient card, are still applied on the resilient card (for example After Death, the AoE damage part of AoE attacks). This is true even if they are abilities of a card of the class that the resilient card is resilient too.
Equipments
Although equipment cards are not abilities, I think it might still be useful to add a note on them to this guide. Equipments that reduce movement cannot reduce a card’s movement value to zero. This means that the movement reduction part is not applied when the equipment is played on a card with one movement. If first a movement reducing equipment is played on a one movement card and afterwards a movement enhancing equipment, the card still goes to two movement. However, if the movement enhancing equipment is played first and then the movement reducing equipment, the extra movement will be lost and the card stays at one movement.
I hope this takes away some confusion. Good luck with your games, and most of all: have fun!
